Biritu Boki Dhadi
Family Members: Biritu Boki
Gelana Girma Tesfaye (son, 6)
Their Story: After her husband left three years ago, Biritu has struggled to support herself and her young son. She bakes injera (Ethiopian bread) and takes in the laundry for neighbors, but her meager income of 25 birr (far less than one US dollar) per day is insufficient and she finds herself asking for handouts on the street.
Goals for the Future: Biritu hopes to start selling potatoes, onions, and other vegetables at a small produce stand in her community. This will allow her to provide for her family. Monthly support will enable Biritu to make this a reality.
Your $50/month support for three years will provide financial training, health and hygiene education, parenting classes, and counseling. It will also cover instruction, support and mentoring to establish and run a small business to secure a bright future for this family.
